Leading Up

In any organization, and in leadership title doesn’t matter. Everyone in an organization needs to understand the business, and build relationships. To that point, we need to understand who we are as individuals, through self-awareness and how we communicate our needs and wants. We need to be transparent about these in an organization.

In this session, Laura Shreaves will talk about navigating the culture of relationship building to lead ourselves to be better prepared to lead others. We’ll also learn how to be better self-leaders. Since many of us have experienced a bad boss, we’ll have break-out sessions to help discuss, and diagnose how to better approach Leading Up.

Laura will also share Adventures in Leading Up – Stories of what worked and what did not along with the importance of building trust, because trust is absolutely necessary.

Objectives/Key learnings include:

(1) Increasing self-knowledge

(2) Identifying how to best communicate with your leader

(3) Tools for growing your relationship with your leader

(4) Getting organized/prepared for difficult conversations
